ISTS AND ISMS IN BRIEF was written and submitted to the Library by Further Left Chat Room participant "papillon". It is composed of excerpts from articles he published in World Socialist Magazine and succinctly delineate history and differences between Marxism, Leninism, and Socialism.

Our version is in pdf format, which requires Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing. If you do not have that program, the latest version may be downloaded for free by clicking here.

The article is 136 Kb long. Depending on how your Acrobat is configured, it will either open in your browser or offer you a chance to save it to your computer. It is best to save it and open for viewing in Acrobat rather than the browser for two reasons. One is that opening the file in the browser does not give you the opportunity to save it for later reading. Another is that it can sometimes cause the browser to freeze.

Both problems can be fixed by configuring your Acrobat Reader to always open internet files separately in Acrobat rather than the browser. To do so, start Acrobat and go to "Edit", "Preferences", and then either "Internet" or "Options" depending on your version. Uncheck "Display pdf in browser", and then close Acrobat. All pdf links will thereafter open in Acrobat rather than the browser. Another way to obtain the file is to right click the browser link and choose "Save Target As....". You can then save it on your computer and open it later for reading in Acrobat.

The pdf format file is in English and cannot be automatically translated to other languages.
